Question by ballerina4jesus: do some irish step dancing schools require celtic heritage?
i’ve always loved celtic music and history. i thought it would be cool to learn irish step dancing but i’m not irish, scot,( etc.) AT ALL . so i was wondering if some/most/all schools require some sort of celtic heritage. including the ones in the U.S.A.

I don’t think so! If they find you very interested in their culture, I think they will feel honored. Lots of people do heritage like dancing to be one with their culture. And then there are people who are just very curious about the culture

nope, a girl in my class is like japanese or something you dont have to be irish at all lol its irish dancing its not you have to be irish to do it

No, none of them do! Not that I know of anyway, and I know of A LOT of schools. Just search “Irish Dance schools in _____” and you can find a school. My mom goes on rants because a Chinese girl won Nationals for Irish Dance last year, but it really doesn’t matter who does it.
