Irish Music in Kobe

On my way to buy a new running back pack today I stumbled across a great Irish band performing on the street in Sannomiya (Kobe, Japan). I was in a hurry so I filmed a little assuming I could film more on my way back to the train station. Unfortunately, they were shut down my the police when I was about to start filming them more. I come from Nova Scotia, Canada, a place with a rich Celtic music scene. I played drums, bodhran, whistles and sang in Celtic bands for quite a while and love to hear the tunes. These guys had some nice chops! check them out here: sheena.symphonic-net.com

I’ve seen them a few times on a corner off of Motomachi, near Chinatown. One of the things I love most about Kobe is the chance encounters of things like this. Very talented group indeed, and I hope to run into them again.
Thanks for posting this!
I see them almost every Saturdays at Namba! They are really good!
you guys are really good!
How come these guys never played at The Blarney Stone in Umeda?
Thanks Kevin , always informative. thumps up and five star
??????????????????
Those guys are really talented,Wow
funny thing i just had some whiskey so great timing! ahahaha
that was kickin!
That kind-of pisses me off. Used to on Saturdays and Sunday, bands would line up out there and play crap rock music that was so over-modulated you couldn’t understand a damn thing. The police never did anything about them.
It sucks they made a band that was playing music that’s actually pleasant to listen to go home.
Great music though. I’d pay to see them.
Wow I loved this.
It sure feels strange seeing Japanese perform such music. But they seem to have practiced well.
Applause!
The Living Hand… oh my, that sounds melancholic!
ha ha j-celt, that should be a genre.
Damn I was quite impressed with the way they were playing. It’s a shame the police had to interrupt and stop them. Thanks for sharing this bit with us Kevin. I really look forward to going back to Japan within a year or so.
That’s freaking awesome, they played better than most of the bands ive heard here in bean town…and trust me theres ALOT of irish bands here lol.
I do believe you’d enjoy a band called The Cherry Cokes.
Love it,,, great find Kev
I normally loathe Irish music.. But that was tolerable. J-street musicians for the win.
Very nice!!!!
cool! thanks for that.
J-celt music. They sound great.
That was very cool
Ah refreshing on this Saturday night.

Celtic music is totally my favorite! ^_^ Love it!
