Happy St. Patricks Day. By popular demand, Valerie recorded this rendition of The Wind that Shakes the Barley, in time to celebrate with the Leprechauns. This is a traditional Irish poem from the 17th century that is set to music. This song is also slated to appear on Valeries next studio CD to be released later this year. Her latest CD is now available : Spring Thaw – Live! through www.valsmusic.com or http

Very Powerful and True. I just found out that my ggggrandfather managed to escape when the United Irish lost the battle of Antrim in 1798. The English chased him for 18 miles, and shot most, hanged the rest.
Amazing… best rendition of this song i’ve ever heard!
Beautiful rendition of this song. This is one of my favorite Irish songs, and you have one of the loveliest versions on YouTube, the a capella makes it even more haunting. Bravo.
this is beautiful i think you must be irish originally i hear the irish soul when i listen to this .would love to hear you sing she moved through the fair
Best rendition I’ve ever heard! Your voice is such a beautiful instrument, Val. You help me to hear things in ways I may never have heard, had you not delivered them in such a clear package.
If you like this sort of material, get June Tabor and Maddy Prior’s “Silly Sisters” album.
Maddy is one of my favorite singers ever, but you are definitely in her class. You might also be interested in Frankie Armstrong, though Frankie’s stuff is a little more political.
Very haunting song, and your voice is perfect for it.
Speaking for all Irishmen everywhere, Thanks for the wonderful St. Patty’s Day Gift!
This is one of my favorite songs. Though I’m used to the faster version by Solas. This is beautiful though…
