Question by Kelley: Does/would this offend anyone from Scotland and Ireland?
Neighboring high schools in my area have their mascots as “The Rebellious Scottish” and another school is “The Fighting Irish”.

During marching band session, ‘the fighting irish’ band played Celtic music and had their dancers river dance. and ‘the rebellious scottish’ played Scottish music and had their male dancers wear kilts and such. This actually isn’t meant as a joke or anything. Their mascots were picked because the people ‘founding’ the area were from Scotland and Ireland…

anyways, I overheard someone say that this would probably offend someone from either Scotland/Ireland, so I was wondering, does it?

Question by JM: Anyone else notice Dirk is one of the few players that gives honest answers during interviews?
Most people when interviewed try and tell the media what they want to hear or the “by the book” answer. Like Kobe does that often. He gets asked if the Celtics vs Lakers rivalry means anything to him and he constantly says no as if he doesn’t care and tries to down play it. When certain players are down 3-0 or 3-1 in a series they say something like ” well it’s gonna happen some day, maybe we’ll make history” or some bs like that and if scorers have bad games they say “oh I just missed shots” when clearly the other team played great defense.

Question by duurbabi: Anyone know anything on Irish pop culture? Music in Particular?
I am doing a report on a country, and my country was Ireland. One of the questions that I am having a lot of difficulty answering is, “What music do the young (“teens”) listen to? List a few bands and/or artists” So in other words, this question might be asking who is the Akon, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Ne-Yo, etc. of Ireland! Maybe you’re from Ireland or you happen to know their culture very well but if you can help me out with this question, that would be great. If you know a lot of artists, even better!

well i’ve been there many times because my parents are from there

and from what i could tell they listened to exactly the same music as people from america, england or australia etc.
they have their own singers/bands etc but bands/artists like akon, lady gaga, beyonce etc would be very big there too

Need to find out more about the History, Development, Features and Social Context.
The Wikipedia is not informative enough. It just has small info, no details.
